Dear Nokesville church family and friends,

“Worship the Lord your God, and serve only him” (Matthew 4:10, NRSV).

What a joyful worship we celebrated last Sunday! Thanks to the praise band, our hearts were uplifted and ignited by the Holy Spirit as we rejoiced in the presence of the Lord. Praise the Lord. I pray that the house of the Lord will continue to be filled with joyful noise and fervent prayers as we seek to worship God in spirit and truth. Indeed, we are given a second chance to experience spiritual awakening and restore a Spirit-filled revival movement by making the most of a God-generated momentum so that we may lay a strong spiritual foundation to raise up a new generation of faithful disciples of Jesus Christ. Can I get an Amen?

Last Sunday, after the service, our youth group and families got together at Leslie and Ken’s home and enjoyed the kickoff pool party. It was a joyous and relaxing time as we basked in the sunlight and enjoyed our Christian camaraderie, along with a delicious meal. Our dear sister Margarete, despite her physical challenges, sent her homemade chocolate cookies for our youth gathering. How sweet of her. Special thanks to our sisters, Leslie Blank and Chris Knoll, for coordinating this fun event and leading our youth ministry. Go, youth!

This Sunday, August 30, we will have a Fall Kickoff Church Picnic after the service. We’ll enjoy our lunch fellowship inside. Hamburgers and hot dogs will be provided by our fellowship dinner crew. Please bring your favorite side or a dessert. Let’s fellowship!

Last Sunday, as we concluded the sermon series on the spiritual disciplines, we explored the essentials of worship. You can watch it at Nokesville Methodist Church - YouTube. This Sunday, August 30, we are excited to get to hear a special sermon from our brother Pastor Neil Long. Pastor Neil will deliver his message titled “Second Chances” (Jonah 3:1-10). Come and worship!
